Germany, Demark, Norway and Iceland donates Covid-19 vaccines to Ghana

The Government of Ghana has received 532,320 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines from the Governments of Germany, Denmark, Norway and Iceland through the COVAX facility to aid in the continuation of Ghana’s COVID19 vaccination programme.

In a welcome statement, Mr McAsey said UNICEF remains committed to the fair and equitable distribution of vaccines to ensure that no one is left behind in the vaccination exercise. He also commended the four countries for their collective support of COVAX.

Speaking on the fight against COVID19, H.E. Tom Norring, Ambassador of Denmark to Ghana, explained the need to vaccinate all Ghanaians with the statement, “no one is safe before everyone is safe”. He urged all Ghanaians to take advantage of this opportunity.

In an acceptance speech by the Chairman of the Health Commodity Group for COVID-9, Mr Matthew Kyeremeh expressed profound gratitude to the four countries for their support to Ghana’s quest to vaccinate all Ghanaians.

He also appreciated the COVAX facility for making the shipment of the donated vaccines possible. Mr Kyeremeh assured the donors of making judicious use of the vaccines to maintain Ghana’s safety against COVID19.

“Nothing is going to stop Ghana from going ahead to make sure that everybody is vaccinated to help fight against the COVID19 pandemic”, he added.
